COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – On Wednesday, Governor Henry McMaster will officially begin his first full term in office. The 97th Inaugural Celebration will start with a prayer service and there are events scheduled throughout the day as the governor is sworn into office.
Governor McMaster is the first Columbia-native to be elected as South Carolina’s head-of-state in more than 100 years.
McMaster first transitioned to the role in 2017 while serving as the state’s lieutenant governor. He took on the top office when then Governor Nikki Haley became the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
After successfully winning his election to the governor’s office in 2018, Governor McMaster will be sworn-in for his first full term on the steps of the State House. Here is a list of the events which are open to the public:

Parking will likely be limited in the downtown area, and officials are reminding drivers not to park at any bagged meters.
Finally, The Inaugural Ball is for ticket holders only. That takes place from 7:30-11 p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
